David started writing songs and performing in 2003. He draws his musical inspiration from storytellers like Elvis Costello, Laurie Anderson, Tom Waits, David Byrne, and Paul Simon. Trained as a visual artist his lyrics are collages of narrative imagery combined with metaphor and bits of conversation.
As a performer he aspires to create events where the audience feels invited to connect with the human fragility, absurdity, and hope that inspires his music.
David lives in San Francisco’s Mission District with his wife and child.
He is greatly indebted to all the people who have supported him, and especially to the extraordinary vocalist Pilar who taught him to refuse a life deprived of fierce joy.
